Ginny is a lifelong dog professional with decades of experience in dog grooming, dog shows, and purebred dogs. Originally from Wyoming, she grew up surrounded by animals on her grandparents’ farm, where her passion for dogs and animal care began at an early age.
After high school, she attended the Western Vocational School of Dog Grooming in Eugene, Oregon. While working at a grooming shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she was introduced to the world of dog shows through her employer, who bred and exhibited Afghan Hounds. It was during this time that Ginny developed a deep interest in the sport of dog showing.
Ginny met her first Giant Schnauzer while in grooming school and immediately knew the breed would become her lifelong focus. She went on to establish her own dog grooming business while actively exhibiting dogs on weekends. In 1976, she attended her first Giant Schnauzer National Specialty, working alongside respected breeders Dr. Klaus and Joan Anselman experience that further shaped her dedication to the breed and the sport.
Committed to improving her skills and understanding of professional handling, Ginny completed an apprenticeship under renowned terrier handler and current American Kennel Club judge Raymond Bay. Through this mentorship, she developed a strong foundation in handling, grooming, conditioning, and the discipline required to succeed in the conformation ring.
Ginny has been a proud member of the Giant Schnauzer Club of America since 1972 and has served the club in numerous leadership roles, including Vice President. She has been the chairperson of three National Specialties and four Regional Specialties and continues to contribute actively to the breed community. Today, she is also an active mentor for judges applying for their judging licenses.
Her teaching philosophy was further refined after attending a handling seminar led by George Alston, a multiple Best in Show handler known nationwide for his educational seminars. From this experience, Ginny adopted structured teaching techniques and “Dog Show 101” fundamentals that continue to influence her work as an instructor and mentor.

Memo Cavazos, DVM, is an internationally experienced professional dog handler, all-rounder judge, and canine educator with more than three decades of involvement in the purebred dog world. His career combines hands-on experience in dog shows, veterinary medicine, grooming education, and breed evaluation at the highest levels.
In 1988, he joined his local kennel club in northern Mexico, where he was trained as a judge’s ring steward and participated in his first dog shows. During this time, he began exhibiting his own dogs, including Labrador Retrievers and Smooth Dachshunds, while also handling dogs for other club members.
Driven by a strong vocational calling, Memo pursued formal education and earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. His academic thesis, “Care and Grooming of the Hair and Skin of the Dog,” detailed grooming techniques and dermatological considerations for 56 breeds. This work became the first canine grooming manual in Spanish written by a Mexican and was later used as a textbook in dog grooming courses he taught throughout Mexico and Central America.
Throughout and after completing his degree, Memo remained deeply involved with the Mexican Kennel Club, attending seminars, handling dogs professionally, and completing his social service at the club’s Hereditary Diseases Clinic. In December 1994, he earned his first Best in Show with a German Pointer female.
In 1995, Memo relocated to the United States to work under renowned professional handler and current judge Clay Coady. During this period, he refined his expertise in canine structure, grooming, conditioning, and presentation across multiple breeds while attending top-level dog shows nationwide.
He returned to Mexico City in 1996 to continue his professional handling career, successfully campaigning breeds such as Dachshunds, Beagles, Yorkshire Terriers, Borzois, Bloodhounds, and English Mastiffs. In 1997, he was named Handler of the Year by the Mexican Kennel Club after his English Mastiff achieved Dog of the Year honors with 27 Best in Show wins.
That same year, recognizing the educational potential of emerging internet platforms, Memo co-founded Perros de México, a pioneering website dedicated to promoting the purebred dog sport. The platform featured educational articles, breeder directories, dog show calendars, and dedicated content for children, becoming an early digital reference for the Mexican dog community.
In 2003, Memo moved to Guadalajara, where he founded the veterinary clinic Pet Place and began breeding Beagles.
He founded DogCommunity, an educational initiative focused on promoting responsible participation in the purebred dog sport. Through this program, he has helped improve handling skills and canine presentation through structured group classes held twice weekly.
In 2013, Memo began his judging career, an aspect of the sport he deeply enjoys. He currently judges internationally and holds an All-Rounder license, allowing him to evaluate all breeds. His judging philosophy is grounded in structure, movement, breed function, and decades of practical experience in the ring.
In 2022, Dr. Cavazos was accepted as a member of the World Dog Press Association (WDPA), based in Belgium. In 2025, he was also accepted as a member of the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA), in recognition of his contributions as an author and educator within the international dog community.
His work has been published in numerous international print and digital media outlets, including:
