She is originally from Wyoming and grew up loving the animals on her grandparents’ farm. After high school she went to Western Vocational School of Dog Grooming in Eugene, OR. When working at the grooming shop in Cheyenne, her boss bred and showed Afghans. It was then that she got bit by the “dog show bug.” She met her first giant schnauzer in grooming school and decided that the giant was the breed she wanted to own and show.
After some time, she started her own dog grooming business and started showing on the weekends. She attended her first giant schnauzer national specialty in 1976 with noted breeders Dr Klaus and Joan Anselm. With her desire to perfect her game and better learn the sport, she did her apprenticeship with the top terrier handler and now AKC Judge Raymond Bay. She learned basic handling and the hard work that goes into showing, grooming and conditioning show dogs.
She has been a member of the Giant Schnauzer Club of America since 1972. She has served in many capacities. Ginny has been vice president of the GSCA and has been chairperson of three national specialties and 4 regional specialties. Currently she is an active mentor for judges that are applying for their judges’ license.
After attending the George Alston handling seminar, who was a multiple best in show handler that traveled the US giving handling seminars, she realized what an impact he had on her ability to teach. George taught her the teaching technique and Dog Show 101 basics.

In 1988 I joined my local dog club in northern Mexico and was trained as a judge’s ring steward. This is when I participated for the first time in a dog show. At the same time, I began to show my Labrador Retriever, Smooth Dachshund and other dogs for some members of the club.
At the time my vocation called me, and I considered it important to educate myself. I obtained my degree as a Veterinary and Animal Science at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. I wrote a thesis titled: “Care and Grooming of the Hair and Skin of the Dog” where I developed detailed grooming techniques of 56 breeds and their skin conditions. This thesis became the first Canine Grooming Manual in Spanish, written by a Mexican. I used this manual as a textbook in dog grooming courses that I taught in various locations in Mexico and Central America.
During and after finishing my degree I remained active in the Mexican Kennel Club (MKC) attending seminars and handling dogs professionally. I obtained my first BIS in December 1994 with a German Pointer female. In addition, I carried out my social service in the Hereditary Diseases Clinic of the MKC, keeping my connection with this institution permanent and close.
In 1995 I moved to the USA to work under the then renowned handler now judge Clay Coady with whom I learned a lot about the structure, grooming and presentation of multiple breeds. With him I attended top-level events throughout the USA.
In 1996 he returned to Mexico City to show dogs professionally. I campaigned some Dachshunds, Beagles, Yorkshire Terriers, Borzois, Bloodhounds and English Mastiffs, among many others breeds. In 1997 he was recognized as Handler of the Year by the MKC thanks to the fact that the English Mastiff that he was showing became the dog of the year by winning 27 BIS.
In 1997, when Internet search engines appeared in our lives, together with some partners, including judges and breeders, we founded Perros De México (a pioneering website dedicated to promoting the pure breed dog sport in Mexico, hosting articles, breeder pages, dog show calendars and endless educational material including one page dedicate to children).
In 2003 I moved to Guadalajara and founded a veterinary clinic called Pet Place and began breeding Beagles. In 2005 I decided to sell my practice to expand my professional horizons. I changed my residence and kennel to the USA, specifically to the Phoenix area, where I currently live and show dogs full time.
Upon arriving in the USA, I founded Dogcommunity, a group dedicated to promoting and educating people about the pure breed dog sport. This group improves the quality of handling for dog owners through handling classes twice a week.
In 2O13 I began my role as a judge, an activity that I greatly enjoy. I have gotten to practice judging internationally and that has allowed me to expand my knowledge in detail in multiple breeds. I am licensed as an “All Rounder,” which means I can judge all breeds.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to show and/or judge in Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Brazil, USA, Guatemala, Salvador, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Argentina Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Finland and England.
